Congratulations to Lesley Santana!

Each fall, Holyoke Community College recognizes the academic excellence of students who have achieved a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, or higher, after completing a minimum of 30 semester hours of work at HCC. These students are invited to join the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa and are recognized at Convocation.

Lesley Santana, a HHA Family Self- Sufficiency participant in the Foundations of Health program was honored for achieving a 3.65 GPA and was inducted into the honor society in her first semester at the college. She recently passed the pre-admission for the Nursing Program at HCC and will hear if she is accepted in April. This determined participant is also employed full-time at Holyoke Medical Center as a Medical Assistant.

We are so proud of all of her hard work and wish her continued success at HCC and beyond.

On Wednesday, the HHA took a big step toward helping our residents and the environment. The HHA executed a $2.4M contract which will allow the HHA to reduce its environmental impact by undertaking many energy conservation measures. The upgrades were selected with an eye toward not only reducing consumption of precious natural resources but also with improving the quality of life and comfort for our residents. We are happy to have partnered with Ameresco and HUD to make this program a reality.

Thanks to our commissioners and staff for having the vision to undertake such exciting impactful initiatives.

Thank you for your overwhelming interest in the Holyoke Housing Authority's upcoming First-Time Homebuyer Workshop in March! We are so glad to have the opportunity to support area residents and collaborate with partner agencies on this important initiative. Unfortunately demand is greater than our availability, the space in which this upcoming workshop will be held allows for a maximum of 35 people in order to provide an area which is comfortable and conducive to learning. At this time, we are unable to accept any additional registrations for the workshop. However, if you are still in need of a First-Time Homebuyer Workshop, please visit www.chapa.org to view upcoming alternative workshop dates and locations. The Authority will hold another workshop in the Fall and will post that information when it is available. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to working with more area residents in the future! If you have any general questions, please feel free to contact Justine Sabbs at 539-2220.
